A Shell Recharge charging station in Orange County is one site. Federal station data counts 14 DC fast ports there. Tesla Superchargers hold 861 of the county’s 1,452 public DC fast ports. That’s 59 percent of every public DC stall. If you’re choosing a network for a real stop, start with that split.

Tesla holds most of the county’s DC fast stalls

Orange County had 210,842 battery-electric cars on the road at year-end 2025. Teslas were 138,121 of those, or 65.51 percent. Orange County holds 12.02 percent of California’s battery-electric vehicles.

The Alternative Fuels Data Center listed 48 Tesla Supercharger sites and 861 DC fast ports. Anaheim has seven Supercharger addresses, two with 20 stalls on Lincoln. Those Lincoln sites are 1734 W and 2270 E. Garden Grove’s Harbor Boulevard site has 32 stalls. Tustin’s Franklin Avenue site has 36, and Irvine’s Main Street has 40. San Clemente’s Avenida Vista Hermosa site has 49 stalls. That’s the largest Tesla stall count in the county. North county drivers hit those Anaheim Lincoln sites first.

The Shops at Mission Viejo lists 10 stalls. Tesla’s own page rates those at 72 kW. AFDC’s power field disagrees, so use Tesla’s 72 kW figure.

A Tesla plugs in with a native NACS connector. Rivian, Hyundai, Ford, and other CCS cars need published adapter support. AFDC lists a Magic Dock Supercharger at 24372 Rockfield Blvd in Lake Forest. It has CCS1 and NACS on 16 stalls. Check the Tesla app before you route there. That’s the Magic Dock listing we could confirm.

When a Tesla site is packed, pick another stall. We cover that fork in Anaheim when Superchargers are packed.

One Shell Recharge site, 14 ports

Shell Recharge is a public DC fast network. In Orange County the AFDC file shows one station and 14 ports. We couldn’t confirm a street address from the records we used. Confirm the live pin in your charging app before you drive over. Don’t treat Shell Recharge as a countywide backup. It’s a single site on a Tesla-heavy map.

CCS cars can use a Shell Recharge charging station without a Tesla adapter. Tesla drivers with a CCS adapter can use CCS stalls too. That plug fact is about the car, not the OC site count.

Fourteen ports is a real site, not a county network. Electrify America runs 30 stations and 138 DC fast ports in the county. EVgo runs 30 stations and 131 ports, EVCS 14 stations and 87. Any of those CCS networks outranks Shell Recharge on Orange County stall count.

The rest of the DC map, in plain numbers

Countywide, AFDC counted 223 public DC fast stations and 1,452 ports. Strip Tesla out and you get 175 stations and 591 ports. The California Energy Commission counted 1,475 public DC fast ports at year-end 2025, with a different method.

ChargePoint has the most DC fast sites, 71, and only 76 ports. That’s about 1.1 ports per site. Many of those are dealership or office single-plug units. They’re not a cluster you’d plan a rescue around.

Electrify America at 440 N Euclid St in Anaheim has 10 DC fast ports. Fashion Island has 8 DC fast ports at 401 Newport Center Dr. We map that stop in EV charging near Fashion Island. Electrify America lists a 12-port site at 25825 Las Vegas, Capistrano Beach. The record names it Dana Point Station. In the AFDC file, that’s the largest non-Tesla DC site in south Orange County.

EVgo’s Plaza Antonio site in Rancho Santa Margarita has 14 DC fast ports. The address is 22351 Antonio Pkwy. That matches Shell Recharge’s county port count, at one shopping plaza.

Which network to open first

If you drive a Tesla, Superchargers are the default public DC layer here. Treat a Shell Recharge charging station as a backup. Use it only if your app shows that one site open and compatible.

If you drive a non-Tesla, start with CCS networks that have OC density. Electrify America, EVgo, and EVCS hold most of those 591 non-Tesla DC ports. Tesla Magic Dock is a second option where the app lists CCS.

Don’t pick a stall because the brand name feels familiar. Pick the stall the live app shows as open. Confirm the plug type and enough range to reach it. Our charging apps guide covers what to open before the pack is already low.

CEC counted 7,095 public charging ports against 260,833 ZEVs. That’s 36.8 ZEVs per public port. Statewide the same math is 24.4. The county is tighter per EV than California as a whole. A full Tesla canopy, or a CCS queue, is a planning problem.

When the stall you wanted isn’t usable

Public DC still fails in ordinary ways. A Supercharger row fills, or a CCS stall sits in an error state. If you can’t reach the next working port, stay with the car. Don’t hunt on a dying pack.

Charge Pro OC is a referral line. It matches stranded EV drivers with independent local mobile rescue operators. Those operators bring a 240V Level 2 source to the car. Tesla gets a native NACS plug, other EVs a CCS or J1772 adapter. A typical session adds 10 to 20 miles of range. That takes 15 to 30 minutes of charging. That’s charging time, not a promise of when a truck arrives. The operator quotes you before starting and bills you directly.

If you’re already empty, out-of-charge recovery is the page for that call. Non-Tesla drivers can use non-Tesla EV rescue when CCS stalls are a miss.
